Kim Jonas joins the Adolescent Health Research Unit
The Adolescent Health Research Unit has recently appointed Kim Jonas as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Kim completed her Ph.D in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Services at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Before embarking on her doctoral studies in the Netherlands she completed a Bachelor of Complementary Health Sciences as well as a Masters in Child and Family Studies from the University of the Western Cape.
Her research interests are centred around adolescent sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) services, including behaviours and practices of healthcare workers in SRH services in South Africa. She is particularly interested in improving adolescents’ access to and utilisation of SRH services, such as the use of contraceptives. Kim also held the an internship at the World Health Organisation (WHO) headquarters in Geneva, where she was involved in work related to developing effective intervention strategies to improve healthcare worker performances and behaviours in SRH services, as well as developing guidelines for adolescent health.
